Tallman’s has been in business for 60 years. Owners David & Priscilla Tallman along with their staff, take pride in customer service and having the clothing solutions for all sizes for men (regular, big & tall) and women (petite, regular, & plus sizes). Tallman’s started in Painted Post, NY in 1962, when Lawrence & Leona Tallman purchased Benjamin Brown’s Department store. After getting established for a few years, he changed the name to Tallman’s Department Store. David was in high school then, and came to work side-by-side with his father and full-time after college. 1972 the store was affected and downtown Painted Post was wiped out by the Flood of ‘72. After the Flood, the Village Square shopping area was created for the area businesses in Painted Post to start over. Tallman’s continued to evolve and grow over the decades. Over the years the business expanded plus Dave’s growing Petroliana & antique collection. Below are some photos from before a large amount of his collection was sold. We continue to provide apparel needs. If we don’t have it, we try to find it for you with special orders!
2022 NEW PHASE
To all Tallman's customers: After 60 years, Tallman's is entered a New Phase - We are Expanding our Men's Regular size and Big & Tall Business - but phasing out Women's. We are concentrating on mens suits and clothing plus tuxedo rentals. Tallman's the Men's Store will continue to serve our customers. Stop in and see us in our new Men’s shop at 154 Village Square.
